# Understanding Moonbase

The Moonbase system is the core mechanism that keeps Lunacy's supply in harmony with lunar phases. Here's what you need to know:

## What is Moonbase?

Moonbase is an automatic supply adjustment mechanism that occurs every 23 hours 37 minutes. During each Moonbase event, the total supply of LUNY tokens is adjusted based on the current phase of the moon.

### How Does it Affect My Holdings?

While the number of tokens in your wallet will change with each Moonbase, your percentage ownership of the network remains constant. For example:

* If you own 1,080 LUNY (0.001%) during a full moon
* During new moon, you might have 0.00001 LUNY
* But this still represents 0.001% of the total supply

### Key Points to Remember

* Moonbase events are automatic and affect all holders simultaneously
* Your ownership percentage stays constant
* Token count changes but value proposition remains the same
* No action required from holders during Moonbase events
